Connected care platform Anthropos partners with global leader in 4D imaging Vayyar Care.

The new partnership will include touches radio frequency sensing technology that will enable customers to provide fall detection without requiring older people to put on wearable devices.

This Vayyar Care detects room presence, used by community for wander management and loneliness prevention, and to ensure efficient emergency evacuations.

The system tracks the time and frequency of bathroom visits, which can highlight potential UTIs or the side-effects of medication.

Paul Berney, CMO at Anthropos, said: “Market research proves there is a strong demand for passive falls detection. It is often the case that people don’t want to wear a device or just forget to put it on or charge it up.

“The Vayyar Care solution provides rapid fall detection with zero involvement from the older person.”

With over 22,000 yearly emergency hospital admissions resulting from falls among people over the age of 65, the new partnership aims to reduce this number.

This will also provide the two companies with additional intelligence to equip carers with detailed insights. This means carers can better advise on how to create a safe home environment, and build more effective, personalised care plans.

Stuart Barclay, UK sale director at Vayyar Care, said: “Our growing older population is tech-savvy and expects best-in-class systems to support their health, wellbeing and lifestyles.

“Person-centred care must have technology at its core, including new solutions that deliver round-the-clock passive fall detection while maintaining dignity, privacy and independence.”

The partnership also aims to minimise the risk of older people sustaining secondary injuries such as pressure sores, as carers are alerted immediately when a fall occurs, so help is sent sooner.

These types of new technology may also add another layer of reassurance for the older person’s relatives.
